Three Rivers Art Center for Kids presents RiverDrums on Saturday, June 15, at the downtown Allen County Public Library. RiverDrums is a family-friendly musical event created to celebrate the community through art honoring our rivers and the native people who lived along them in the village of Kekionga.

The fourth annual event features educational displays and presentations as well as multicultural experiences designed to educate and celebrate the beginnings of the area that is now known as Fort Wayne.

Fernando Zapari gets things started with a welcome address followed by a poem by TRACK Board Member Patty Hunter. Dancing then takes center stage with a video of the Miami Healing Dance, Fort Wayne Chinese Families & Friends Association Dancing, Amanceres De Mexico Dancing, and Burmese Dancers. Ginger Karns presents flute and spoken word from Miami culture, Ken Noland, a Cherokee American Flutist, performs and the Fort Wayne Ballet wraps things up with a performance just before 4 o’clock.

Founded by Terrance Doran in response to abuse he personally suffered during childhood, the Three Rivers Art Center for Kids is a non-profit entity aiming to heighten awareness of child abuse through the use of the arts. They also help child abuse survivors and homeless children in need.

The event is free to the public and light refreshments will be available.
