Something unique is brewing in The Fort. Celebrate Bachtoberfest with the second annual Bach and Beer fundraiser taking place at the Hop River Brewing Company on Oct. 28.

A fund- and fun-raising event for the Bach Collegium, attendees will have the opportunity to explore the instruments used by the Collegium while enjoying some quality, locally brewed beer.

They may find a harpsichord in the middle of the room along with baroque violins and cellos or they may get to see a professional version of the recorder they used to play in elementary music class. Regardless, attendees will undoubtedly get to hear some of the musicians of the Bach Collegium play a few of those instruments as they perform several segments of music, interspersed with ample time to try the great beer and food of Hop River.

The Bach Collegium is a local arts organization devoted to performing the music of Bach and his contemporaries in the manner in which it was originally performed. With a group of world-class instrumentalists, a great chorus, and vocal soloists who work together, the Bach Collegium, along with its board and volunteers, make these unique concerts a reality.

This event is definitely not a concert but is meant to be an introduction to the organization where people can enjoy the music in a great space, possibly for the first time.
