The long Memorial Day weekend is a time many use to gather with friends and family to grill out, catch up, and celebrate the beginning of summer.
For others, this holiday weekend is a time for remembrance.
To aid in that endeavor, Fort Wayne’s Annual Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony will take place Monday, May 29, at 11 a.m.
The parade route begins just north of East State Boulevard on Parnell Avenue and proceeds to the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. A ceremony with various officials and military veterans takes place immediately after the parade where wreaths will be placed, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military.
The parade in Waynedale will begin at 9 a.m. at Waynedale United Methodist Church and head south along Old Trail Road to Prairie Grove Cemetery where there will be a ceremony.
