Duke Tumatoe is no stranger to Fort Wayne, having played here many times over the years in front of hundreds of loyal fans. He returns Saturday, Oct. 29, at Baker Street Centre.

A regular performer on the Bob & Tom Show, his songs are often humorous although steeped in the blues.

A self-taught guitarist who learned to play by watching Chicago’s blues legends, Tumatoe has released 15 albums and opened for the likes of Muddy Waters, George Thorogood, and John Fogerty.

While all of that is impressive, it might surprise some that Tumatoe was also a member of rock giants REO Speedwagon at one time when the band’s music was more influenced by Otis Redding, Sam and Dave, and The Doors than it was by Grand Funk Railroad or the Rolling Stones. Ask anyone who has seen him: a night with Duke Tumatoe is always a memorable one.
