Among upcoming events at Promenade Park will be a chance to learn a new cuisine, enjoy a scavenger hunt, and take part in a Halloween mystery.
German food highlighted
Oct. 17 is a big day at the park with two unique events scheduled.
The quarterly Confluence Kitchen, where international dishes are featured and prepared, puts the spotlight on Germany, which should appeal to many in our area.
The Riverfront website says, “Come swap recipes, pick up some words in German, snap a few selfies at the themed photo booth, and learn about the real fairy tales from the Brothers Grimm. Delicious German food will be available for purchase. All ages are welcome.”
Early registration is encouraged since space is limited to allow for proper spacing. Early registration is also rewarded with a cheaper fee of $5 through Oct. 9, and $8 after that date.
The event takes place from noon until 3 p.m. and also includes a contest for best dressed wiener dog, with the winner announced at the end of the cooking demonstration.
Look out for ravens
Also on Oct. 17 is the Raven Scavenger Hunt, where 11 ravens will be disguised throughout the park.
Anyone who wishes to participate should come with camera to snap pics of the decorative ravens, leaving them in place for others to find.
Those who show their pictures at the Information Tent will be entered into a drawing to win a free pair of Winter Cozy tickets on January 23.
All ages are welcome and admission is free.
Creepy fun for 21 and over
With Halloween still a bit of an unknown and Fright Night already scaled back, it’s good to know that some fun ways to celebrate are still on the calendar.
Promenade Park will host Nevermore: The Cask of Amontillado, a 21-and-over event which should provide some creepy fun for adults.
Participants are invited to explore the murder scene, collect evidence, find clues, solve puzzles, and interrogate the suspects. Appetizers and drinks are available, and tickets are $75 per person or $70 per person if registering two or more.
