Jump Spark for your reading
Every year, devoted library patrons look forward to the Summer Reading Program. This year, Allen County Public Library added a spring twist to the mix.
Jump SPARK provides a jump start to the summer program with a board game-inspired worksheet to mark off learning in five disciplines — Science, Play, Art, Reading, Knowledge. It’s a fun and interesting template for learning to supplement what has been a weird school year. The sheet can be picked up at all ACPL branch locations and can be accessed at acpl.info/spark.
Mother’s Day in Downtown
Downtown Fort Wayne hosts another tribute to moms the weekend of May 8-9. Wander the streets and shops of downtown for window displays and retail therapy, and be sure to make reservations for a brunch with mom on Sunday.
With two dozen options available, there are plenty of places to take that important person out for a celebration. Many restaurants and shops are running specials to make the day pocket-friendly, too.
Visit downtownfortwayne.com for the full list.
From Tacos to Tequila
Cinco de Mayo is just a few short days away, but the fun doesn’t have to stop there. The fourth annual Tacos, Tequila, and Margaritas Fest takes place at Headwaters Park on Saturday, May 29, from 11 a.m.-7 p.m.
Margarita flights will allow you to try three different styles of margaritas for $10, as well as a tequila sampling where you can sample several varieties.
To accommodate attendees while following CDC guidelines, social distancing is required with tables spaced apart at the park. Masks are appreciated while visitors are moving about the area. Also on hand will be taco vendors, dessert trucks, and live music.
