Civic Theatre opens curtain on its 2021-22 season

The Fort Wayne Civic Theatre has announced its 2021-22 season. A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum will be July 24-Aug. 8, Every Brilliant Thing will be Sept. 11-26, Celebrities Act Up! will be Oct. 8, The Christmas Schooner will be Nov. 6-21, Seussical will be Feb. 12-27, Forbidden Broadway’s Greatest Hits will be March 25-April 3, and Noises Off will be May 13-22, 2022.
COVID-19 protocols will be determined closer to the dates of each event.
Go over your voiceovers
Professional voiceover artist Ed Bednarczyk will conduct a voiceover workshop at the Sweetwater campus. Two sessions are available (May 21 and May 22 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.). The cost is $250 per person.
Heart of the city deadline approaches
HeART of the City is sponsoring a non-juried art show at Three Rivers Festival on Saturday, July 10, from 11 a.m.-7 p.m., and Sunday, July 11, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Freimann Square parking lot.
The deadline for artists to submit is this Saturday, May 15.
Each vendor is required to submit a COVID-19 Response Plan to the festival office by June 15 and is required to submit a daily health screening questionnaire for each artist and/or employee of the booth to the Art in the Park Committee. The show is open to the first 30 paid applicants.
Art Market in ’busco
The 2nd Floor Gallery & Studio in Churubusco will be holding a “Second Saturday Art Market” this June through September from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The events will be open to the public and will include food trucks and live musical entertainment by Garry Jones.
Those wishing to provide art, produce, plants, crafts, or anything homemade or home grown can register by emailing email@example.com.
Parks and Pods
Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation are holding Summer Activity PODS for ages 4-14. The PODs include eight weeks of activities with 22 different themes, including morning and afternoon sessions, and can be registered for individually. The program features a wide variety of arts and crafts, sports, puzzles, and cooking themes. Register for PODs at www.fortwayneparks.org.
Celebrate fiber art
Salomon Farm Park will hold a Fiber Arts Celebration Friday, May 14, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., and Saturday, May 15, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at 817 W. Dupont Road, Fort Wayne.
The annual festival promotes the heritage of natural fiber production and traditional textile art with hands-on activities and interactive demonstrations.
Flit into the COnservatory
The 19th annual Live Butterfly Exhibit will be held at the Botanical Conservatory through June 27 during regular public hours.
The conservatory will also hold Color Craft Sessions May 20-22 and June 17-19.
These sessions are included with regular admission. No registration is required.
