Chill out at the Alps in new conservatory exhibit

The Botanical Conservatory will present an Alpine Holiday Showcase Exhibit Nov. 20 through Jan. 2, during regular public hours, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Botanical Conservatory’s version of the Alps offers a bold glacial display that will have you basking in the cool blues of winter, offsetting the rich deep colors of holiday poinsettias. Find yourself winding down a mountain path and admiring the scenery from the porch of a snow-capped ski hut. Admission is $3-$5.
The Night of Lights at the Conservatory late-night light display is Wednesday, Nov. 24, from 5-9 p.m. and Thursdays and Fridays, Nov. 26-Dec. 17, from 5-8 p.m.
Santa’s Workshop at the Community Center
The Community Center at 233 W. Main St. will host Santa’s Workshop on Nov. 24 from 4:30-7:30 p.m.
The event will feature make-and-take crafts, milk and cookies, holiday shopping, and rooftop lighting at 6:05 p.m. Donate a new or gently used bear for a chance to win a giant elf bear. Admission is free.
Promenade Park’s holiday offerings
Get a small glimpse of daily winter life at Promenade Park, 202 W. Superior St., through handmade paper cut light boxes. The light boxes will be displayed in the windows of the Park Foundation Pavilion at Promenade Park from Nov. 24 to Jan. 3 and can be best viewed at dusk.
On Nov. 24 from 6-10 p.m., Riverfront Fort Wayne will host a sensory-friendly Night of Lights using low lighting projections, optional aromatherapy, soft music, and guided relaxation. The program will be offered in 15-minute sessions throughout the evening beginning at 6 p.m. Sessions with the Three Rivers Visiting Dogs will also be available. Free admission is made possible by the AWS Foundation. The event will be at the Park Foundation Pavilion at Promenade Park, 202 W. Superior St.
Fox Island Turkey Trot 5K
The Fox Island Turkey Trot 5K will be held on Saturday, Nov. 20, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the scenic trails in Fox Island County Park.
The event also features a 15,000-centimeter race for Turkey Toddlers 10 and under at 9:45 a.m.
Registration is $19 through Nov. 18, and $22 the day of the race. Packet pickup and race registration will be Friday, Nov. 19 and the morning of the race at the Fox Island Nature Center.
