The next time you visit the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, you might want to make a special visit to the room tucked off to the left of the front desk.

For those who haven’t visited the room, it had tables and books and print offs for children to color. For those who are familiar with the room, it now provides children with even more opportunities for exploring the world of art with children and ways to them to the beauty of art.

The newly renovated John S. and James L. Knight Learning Center allows for hands-on, interactive ways for children to experience art in a way that opens up discussion and dynamic exploration.

While it’s never too soon to take kids through the exhibits and let them learn and see how many different art forms there are, the need to keep a distance and to not touch can be hard for them to understand since they often learn in very tactile ways.

The new learning center provides a comfortable environment for young learners and their families to enjoy art — and be surrounded by it. Artwork by students, regional artists Sayaka Ganz and Terry Ratliff, and pieces from the permanent collection provide an inviting and colorful surrounding for kids to work on projects while parents can also view video guides which suggest ways to approach the world of art with children.

The room is available for school groups, but it’s open and ready for families to visit on their next trip to the Fort Wayne Museum of Art. The room is part of the museum and included in the price of admission, so there’s no reason not to take advantage.
