A holiday event for the whole family, The Wizards of Winter will perform a rock opera to the sound of electric guitars. It’s a show designed to get you in the Christmas spirit and send you rocking through the holidays.

While not as well known as Trans-Siberian Orchestra, The Wizards of Winter put on a similar type of show in more intimate venues like the Niswonger Performing Arts Center in Van Wert, where they perform on Dec. 5.

The eleven-member ensemble, now featuring two former members of TSO along with Trixter’s Steve Brown on guitar, has been in existence for more than a decade.

They have released four albums and built their audience one Christmas season at a time by evoking the spirit of Christmas that lies within us all with performances that showcase vocal harmonies and outstanding musicianship. They take audiences on a musical journey that covers a variety of genres from pop to progressive rock.

As you can imagine, with former members of Rainbow, Blue Oyster Cult, and Ted Nugent’s band on board, the show has its fair share of rock moments.

But it also ventures into straightforward pop/rock and even jazz, blues, and classical on occasion.

The Wizards of Winter will have you leaving the Niswonger with plenty of that Christmas spirit in your heart.
