The original lineup – Jim Pike, Bob Engemann, and Tony Butala – continued to chart through the early and mid-sixties with the ballads “Goin’ Out of My Head/Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You,” “Put Your Head on My Shoulder,” and “Hurt so Bad.” Fans responded to the men’s soulful melodies and warm harmonies, and that hasn’t changed in nearly six decades of touring and recording.
Speaking of recording, The Lettermen have put out more than seventy studio albums. Do the math and that’s more than one a year. And they’ve received five Grammy nominations and a world’s worth of love from fans and loyal followers. The current lineup consists of Tony Butala, Donavan Tea, and Bobby Poynton. They’ll be at Foellinger Theatre Saturday, July 28, at 8 p.m.
