Two-time Grammy-nominated band Gojira will visit The Clyde Theatre in Fort Wayne on Nov. 7. The first French band to top the Billboard Rock charts, Gojira are touring in support of their newest album, Fortitude, released in April.
With use of diverse and progressive metal styles, Gojira aren’t easily categorized. They are known for their spiritual and environmentally themed lyrics, setting them apart from the usual fare.
Their ability to write captivating compositions has improved with each passing album. But Fortitude is a huge leap forward sonically and stylistically, solidifying the them as one of the most important bands within the genre. Add to that an electric stage show, great songs, and superior musicianship, and a Gojira show becomes a metal fan’s “must-see” event.
Make sure to get to The Clyde early as New Zealand trio Alien Weaponry will open with their own unique brand of metal. The band’s music is centered around the indigenous Māori people of New Zealand from which they are descended. A good portion of their music is performed in the indigenous language of te reo Māori and, like their French headlining brothers in Gojira, the music is also heavily focused on environmental and cultural awareness.
Knocked Loose, an up-and-coming American hardcore punk band from Kentucky, round things out for the night while adding some diversity to the bill.
