It’s been a little over three years since Prince passed away, but his music continues to move people in countless ways.

That’s why it’s important that people like Gabriel Sanchez exist. He keeps Prince’s timeless music alive as he portrays the “Purple One” in the Prince Experience, coming to the Foellinger Theatre on July 6.

The Prince Experience has been going strong for a little more than 15 years, even while Prince was still performing himself, so it’s safe to say Prince knew about the act while he was still alive. A true tribute band in every sense of the concept, the Prince Experience doesn’t just sing the songs we all know and love. They perform them. Costumes, choreography, and tremendous musicianship result in a great evening of entertainment when The Prince Experience comes to town.

With giant shoes to fill, Sanchez delivers by channeling the showmanship of Prince and putting on a performance that entertains from start to finish. Sanchez even has the guitar skills to match Prince, a severely underrated guitarist when he was alive, and shows them off as he rips through solos on iconic hits “When Doves Cry” and “Let’s Go Crazy.”

Expect to hear all of the hits from “Raspberry Beret” to “Little Red Corvette” to “Purple Rain.” Sanchez and company may even throw in a few surprises to keep you on your toes. The entire show is elaborate and a lot of thought goes into the production.

Simply put, this show is going to be a lot of fun and will honor Prince in all the right ways.
