Program boosts entrepreneurs

A three-day, in-person intensive artist/creative professional entrepreneurship and community engagement workshop and up to $2,000 in fellowship funding is available through the Indiana Arts Commission’s On-Ramp Creative Entrepreneur Accelerator. 

The program and workshop teach entrepreneurship to artists and creative professionals by focusing on a portfolio career, a community-engaged artistic practice, and key business concepts.

Heartland Sings will present a series of monthly singer’s workshop Saturday mornings starting Nov. 13 for acting and singing in a variety of styles.

The workshops are designed to encourage students to experiment in a non-threatening atmosphere of exploration and support, to encourage and motivate students, to enrich their experience through discussions with the Vocal Arts Institutes instructors or guest professionals, and to engage students in subjects like auditioning and stage movement.

Start your holiday shopping in Garrett

The Garrett American Legion Post 178 will host a holiday market and craft show on Sunday, Nov. 14, from noon-4 p.m. at 515 W. Fifth Ave., Garrett. 

Vendors include local businesses and direct sales items, honey, dips, and caramel apples, to paper crafts, soaps, candles, books, CBD products, and more. 

Meals for purchase will be available from the 4-H Junior Leaders, and the Legion will offer a full cash bar including soda, water, beer, wine, and liquor, as well as peanuts, cashews, pistachios, candy bars, and chips.

Home Alone with the Philharmonic

The Fort Wayne Philharmonic will present a special holiday show, “Home Alone in Concert,” at 7:30 p.m.Nov. 13 at the Embassy Theatre. 

The beloved 1990 classic holiday film will be presented with John Williams’ score performed live by the Phil. The concert will be guest conducted by Conner Gray Covington.
