Local establishments are finding ways to safely gather people for entertainment again. One especially notable event takes place at Three Rivers Distilling Company with comedian Dwight Simmons visiting on Friday, Oct. 23, at 8 p.m. Fans may recognize Simmons from his work in Laughter Trumps Hate, Kevin Hart’s LOL Network, Thrillist, and College Humor, as well as his appearances on The Bob and Tom Show and the web series BrewTube Comedy. The evening is hosted by the Maumee, Mary, and Joseph Comedy Festival, and its distillery setting means there will be food and beverage available for purchase. Three Rivers makes its own vodkas, rum, gin, whiskeys, and moonshine on site from Indiana-grown, organic, non-GMO grains. The attached restaurant has a full menu and, in addition to their own beverages, offers wine and beer. Three Rivers is an all-ages facility. Tickets for the evening of Speakeasy Comedy are only $10 and are available at Eventbrite.A little programming at YoutheatreFollowing the success of 1776, which was moved from the Arts United Center to the Foellinger Theatre last month, more outdoor theater options are available in October. Fort Wayne Youtheatre’s production of Stuart Little will run on Oct. 10 with performances at 1 and 4 p.m. outside the Arts United Center. Tickets are $5 for a socially distanced square which accommodates groups of four or fewer. Ground seating allows for blankets, low beach chairs, or cushions to sit on during the show. Standard size chairs will not be allowed in these sections. Chair seating reservations allow for full-size lawn chairs to be used. Masks are required, food is permitted, and programs will be available in digital form only. For those to the north of us, Youtheatre takes the production to the James Cultural Plaza in Auburn on Sunday, Oct. 11, at 2 p.m. Fort Wayne Youtheatre’s annual holiday show, this year featuring The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, takes place at the Embassy Theatre Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. and on Dec. 12 at 2 and 7 p.m.
