The B-Side at One Lucky Guitar has a few events lined up as we gradually ease out of ’21.
First up, on Thursday, Nov. 18, they will open up their cozy Lafayette Street location for a screening of The Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concerts, a Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band film featuring ten never-before-released performances from the Madison Square Garden MUSE benefit concerts.
In the film, Springsteen is 31 years old, energetic, and between his fourth and fifth studio albums, Darkness on the Edge of Town and The River. This is an all-ages event and free to attend. Proceeds support Humane Fort Wayne.
Next up, on Tuesday, Dec. 7, the B-Side welcomes New York City-based film composer, keyboardist, songwriter, and vocalist Annie Hart. She primarily composes and performs in the band Au Revoir Simone and appeared on screen in the 2017 series of Twin Peaks. In addition, Hart’s song “Hard to Be Still” appeared on episode one of the Netflix series Gypsy, starring Naomi Watts.
There will be an opening performance by Natvral, a new project of Kip Berman formerly of the The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. This is a rare chance to experience beautiful soundscapes in an intimate atmosphere filled with community ties and a warm, comforting energy. This is an 18-and-over event with tickets ($12 advance, $15 day of) available via Eventbrite.
Last, on Wednesday, Dec. 29, the venue will host “Kiss-Off 2021,” an evening of Americana music, good times, and a sayonara to 2021. Set to perform will be The Legendary Trainhoppers and Rosalind & The Way.
All of these events require a vaccination card or 24-hour negative test for entry.
Monster Mash at the Flash
Flashback Live has you covered for the upcoming Halloween holiday with a special event on the evening of Friday, Oct. 29.
Halloween Monster Mash at Flash is a multi-genre show that will feature an array of bands both locally and out of towners, DJs, costume contest, and more. Set to perform are Sweater Disco (Indianapolis), The Harbor Divide (Toledo), Goonba (Chicago), Autonomous (South Bend), and local favorites Sum Morz, The Green Leaves, Axiom, Making Enemies, and Jake Brown.
All this action is only going to set you back ten bucks. Advance tickets can be purchased via Eventbrite.
Have a Hubie Halloween
The Hubie Ashcraft Band will partake in the ghoulish holiday on Saturday, Oct. 23, when they head to the Elks Lodge 993 down in Decatur.
The Halloween party begins at 6 p.m. and will include a pulled pork buffet with all the fixings, prizes for best costumes, 50/50 drawing, and boot scootin’ music by Hubie and Co. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased by calling The Elks at (260) 724-3613. Proceeds from the event will benefit Cancer Research.
Ashcraft will be doing double-duty that day as the band will join Brent Lowry as the opening acts for country music duo Thompson Square at Double H Farms in Hamilton.
Music gets going at 3 p.m. for this family-friendly event that will also include a beer tent, food vendors, bounce houses, and fireworks. You are encouraged to bring your own seating. Tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite.
Eli Young coming to the region
While I have the country folks attention, you will be agog that the Eclectic Room will bring the Eli Young Band to Angola on Saturday, Nov. 6.
The Texas-born band has gained quite the fanbase since their formation in 2000 with the strength of radio airplay, numerous awards and nominations, and extensive touring.
Their latest release is a greatest hits album that features favorites like “Highways and Broken Hearts,” “When It Rains,” and “Always the Love Songs.”
