I don’t know too many folks that wouldn’t love to be able to play guitar. After all, it’s probably one of the most effective methods of staying sane in this sometime-crazy world.
Well, it’s never too late to learn. The fine folks at Sweetwater are going to get you on the right track with its Intro to Guitar Workshop. This two-day course is designed to take you from zero to novice by learning basic chords, mastering basic songs, setting up a practice routine, and more. All you need is to show up with a guitar and a couple of picks.
The kid’s session (ages 11-17) is $99 and will be held on Jan. 11 and 18 from 6-8 p.m. The adult session (ages 18 and up) is $149 and will take place on Jan. 12 and 19 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m and also includes lunch. The Sweetwater Academy of Music & Technology is going to lay the foundation. It’s up to you to continue the dream. Shred away!
Krazy Neyberz bring the party rock
Bassist Marc Baker and drummer Sheridan Lippi of the 2010 Whatzup Battle of the Bands champion Kill the Rabbit have a new project in the works. Krazy Neyberz is a new cover act performing hit songs from the ’80s to 2000s.
“This band is a no-holds barred live rock n’ roll party band,” Baker said. “Our setlist includes Rick Springfield, Journey, Foo Fighters, Bon Jovi, Maroon 5, The Outfield, and more.”
Baker and Lippi are joined by guitarist Bob Finger and singer Scott Lammers and together want nothing more than to get you on the dance floor. Krazy Neyberz is beginning to line-up dates for next year, so hit them up on social media for updates. Who would’ve thought your Neyberz could be so cool?
Top local acts together in Angola
Headbanging and boot scootin’ will come together on the evening of Saturday, Jan. 12, at The Eclectic Room in Angola. In one corner, you have one of the area’s top country acts, The Hubie Ashcraft Band. In the other, it’s everyone’s favorite local rockers The Band Brother. That’s right, two of the area’s elite together for one night.
Showtime is at 7 p.m. that evening with doors at 6 p.m. Both acts have quite the following, so I suggest you get there on time to get you a spot. All that talent is only going to run you $8 at the door.
The Ruin Hosts Comedy night
The Ruin will provide a laid-back evening filled with drinks and laughter on Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 8 p.m. Local comedians Chris Kladis, Isiah Grey, and Jared Busch will be taking the stage and doing what they do best.
They will be joined by Louisville’s own Dan Alten. Alten is a road warrior, frequently traveling the states with his unique brand of intelligently dumb surreal comedy. Some hail him as a hipster Steve Martin.
The best thing about this comedy night is there’s no cover.
