With music acts eager to get back on the road, promoters have begun staging “drive-in concerts” around the country to give fans a dose of live music while COVID-19 has most concert venues shutdown.

Jumping on the drive-in concert wagon will be the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. On Thursday, Aug. 13, at 7:30 p.m., they will open their parking lot to a concert by contemporary Christian rockers Casting Crowns. The band has a history of impacting people with their powerful music.

All tickets for the show are sold on a per-car basis (limit of six people per car) and will be parked in order of arrival in the tier purchased. The tiers include gold and regular parking. Lawn chairs or blankets are welcome but you must sit inside your allocated parking space.

Tickets are on sale now at the Coliseum box office and Ticketmaster.

Comedian to take the stage

The Tiger Room at Welch’s Ale House is set to host their first live event since the world was turned upside down in March.

On Thursday, July 23, comedian Chad Daniels will take the stage and show why his five albums have gained over 700 million streams. The Fergus Falls, Minn., native has been featured on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and The Late Show with James Corden

Welch’s is excited to be doing shows once again, but in doing so they ask that attendees for the Daniels show to please wear a mask.

Food and drinks will be served and seating will be in groups spaced apart by ticket sales to the best of their ability. If you’re itching to get out and have some laughs, this would be the opportune time to do so. Tickets can be purchased through Brownpapertickets.com.

Slash to log in to Gearfest

Last week’s issue featured Steve Penhollow’s story on the upcoming GearFest held online only June 26 and 27.

Since publication of that story, another big name has been added to the already star-studded list of presenters.

Grammy Award-winning guitarist, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Les Paul Award recipient, and over 100 million album selling Slash will be taking part in this year’s event. Sweetwater’s Nick Bowcott will conduct an intimate discussion with one of rock’s most iconic and influential guitarists of all time. Slash will discuss composing horror movie soundtracks, how he has been making the most of the lockdown/quarantine, and more.

Can’t wait to check it out online!
