February 24, 2021
West Central Coffee and Davey’s Delicious Bagels at 1006 Broadway, Fort Wayne, is teaming up with the University of Saint Francis Music Technology Program for a special concert on Friday, Feb. 26, from 5-8 p.m.
The university’s music program has its own record label — Marble Lounge Records — and that produced the first full-length album Legend or Myth by the talented Rosalind & The Way. And that is who will perform Feb. 26 in the back room of the coffee and bagel shop.
Make it a point to stop by and check out some great tunes, hot drinks from WCC, and food from Davey’s. Plus, if you would rather enjoy the show from the comfort of your home, the show will be livestreamed on the WCC Facebook page.
The event is free, but get yourself a ticket through Eventbrite to assure you a spot.
Black Sabbath tribute band
The Rockstar Lounge welcomes Sabbath: North America’s Black Sabbath tribute on Saturday, Mar. 20, at 7 p.m. This act pays homage to the band that pretty much single-handedly gave birth to the heavy metal movement.
From the striking resemblance to Ozzy Osborne and Toni Iommi to the elaborate stage set, it’s the closest thing there is to Black Sabbath. The band performs the Ozzy and Ronnie James Dio eras of Sabbath as well as some Ozzy solo numbers.
General admission tickets are $20 and VIP tickets $35 and available via TicketWeb.
Looking more lucky this year
Last year, as folks were ready to celebrate St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, the world began grappling with the coronavirus outbreak.
That led to St. Patrick’s Day celebrations being canceled across the globe.
Though we are not out of the pandemic woods yet, some establishments are planning to celebrate this year.
First up, The Muse on Main will welcome local Irish rockers The Mighty McGuiggans on Friday, Mar. 13, at 7 p.m. Joining the fun will be El Camino Hot Tub and Fua. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 day of and can be purchased at www.themuseonmain.com/ events.
Next, The Venice Restaurant will partake in the festivities with live music, green beer, the new corned beef pizza, and their famous corned beef and cabbage. The fun begins at 11 a.m.
Then there’s Mitchell’s Sports Bar which will be celebrating St. Patrick’s for four days from March 17-20. There will be everything from live music by The Y’s Guys, a live DJ, bagpipers, March Madness fun, and $2 green beer. Make sure to hit them up on social media to see the daily schedules.
Of course, we have other pots of gold in town including Deer Park Irish Pub, O’Sullivans, JK O’Donnell’s Irish Ale House, and O’Reilly’s Irish Pub.
Band celebrates 13 years together
Sum Morz will be celebrating their 13th anniversary on Friday, Mar. 5, at The Latch String. For a band to remain together that long is quite an accomplishment, so come celebrate with them and get down to all their party favorites. The fun begins at 9 p.m.
