March 24, 2021
The local multidisciplinary electronic music act Metavari throws its hat into the livestreaming ring on Friday, March 26. The group partnered with a Cincinnati production company for an audiovisual experience titled Absurda Etc.
“Couldn’t be more excited about the scope of it, as it was a pretty massive feat for us,” said Nathaniel David Utesch, the talent behind Metavari.
The event will be recorded live from the Arts United Center and will be available online through April 2. Absurda Etc. features Metavari’s ongoing collaboration between Utesch and contemporary percussionist Colin Boyd. The two have redesigned Metavari as a duo and are producing the band’s fifth studio album later this year.
Absurda was a worldwide Record Store Day title in 2019 with a limited 1,000 copies released. The album is a score to a collection of work spanning the career of filmmaker David Lynch. The livestream event will be the first time Metavari have played the Absurda material at this length in over a year. They will also play other numbers from the Metavari catalog followed by a Q&A.
Proceeds from the event will be donated to Family & Friends Fund of Southeast Fort Wayne.
Tickets are $11.75 presale and $13.75 day of and can be purchased at beatstream.live/schedule/metavari.
