A star-studded lineup of musical acts are set to perform at this year’s Save Maumee Grassroots Organization Annual Fundraiser on Saturday, April 24.

From 3-10 p.m., the Kyle Haller Band, Grateful Groove, Debutants, Elle/the Remnant, Know No Oth3r, El Camino Hot Tub, and Los Lemons will bring their talents to the grounds at 501 Rose Ave. in New Haven.

This year’s event ]will bid farewell to founder Abigail King who along with her fiancé will be taking a year hiatus in Costa Rica.

The Save Maumee Grassroots Organization is raising money so they can continue King’s restoration work on the Maumee River. Its purpose is to preserve, protect, and improve the ecosystems of the upper Maumee River and watershed.

Besides the music that day, folks will be able to enjoy vendors, food and drinks, live painters, belly dancers, fire performers, and raffles. The event will be outdoors rain or shine with social distancing guidelines.

Due to limited space, do not park at the event site. There will be parking available at Kreager Park with a shuttle ride to the event or you can take a short walk down the greenway from Moser Park.

Tickets for the event are $1o with children 10 and under free and can be purchased through Eventbrite.

The reopened rail

When the COVID-19 concert cancellation avalanche began last March, the Brass Rail decided to shut down until capacity limitations eased up. It wasn’t until a couple months ago that they decided to reopen.

More recently, The Rail announced that they are ready to allow bands back on the stage. Their first show will be on Saturday, May 1, when they welcome the Nashville rock and honky-tonk duo Volk along with Brother O’ Brother from Indianapolis.

Then on Saturday, May 8, they welcome one of the latest bands to hit our scene, The Piques, along with their friends The Meat Flowers and Jonah Leatherman

Finally, on Sunday, July 18, a Rail favorite returns to town, The G–d— Gallows. These cats create a sound that is referred to as “hobocore,” “gypsy punk,” “gutterbilly,” and “americana punk.” They will be joined by a couple local openers to be announced later.
