The folks at Sweetwater are giving everyone the opportunity to create music at the Fall Harvest Drum Circle on Friday, Oct. 30, from 7-8 p.m.

Come solo or invite your friends and get set to jam on percussion instruments under the fall moonlight. The best thing about it, you don’t even have to know what you’re doing since the drum circle is open to beginners and experienced musicians.

Percussionist Doug Laughlin will guide you through an hour of music making and will help you learn new skills in a fun and safe environment.

Laughlin has more than 40 years of teaching experience, performed as a percussionist with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, and currently performs with his band, Island Vibe

Drums and refreshments will be provided as you make a racket around the campfire at the Sweetwater Pavilion parking lot. There is limited space available for this event so act quick.

For more info, go to Sweetwater.com. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased through Eventbrite.

Calling all little Musicians

Speaking of drumming, if you have a little one at home, then check out Tiny Musicians classes at Sweetwater. Together, you and your tiny musician can enjoy nursery rhymes and songs, rhythm and movement exercises, simple and fun instruments, and plenty of ways to experience the joy of play.

These classes are recommended for children ages up to 3 years old and are full of singing, laughing, and playing together to build your child’s physical, mental, and emotional skills. Sessions are Nov. 7, 14, and 21, and Dec. 5 from either 9-10 a.m. or 10-11 a.m. Get those youngsters started early!

Relive the ’90s this halloween

Good news if you purchased ’90s attire for this year’s Halloween. It looks like you are going to get your money’s worth.

On Sunday, Nov. 1, from 1-8 p.m., Connor’s Rooftop Bar will host Fall Back to the ’90s. Bust out your slickest scrunchie, throw on some rollerblades, or come dressed as your favorite Saved by the Bell character and get ready to kick it ’90s style to celebrate the end of Daylight Saving Time. There will be plenty of good tunes throughout the day supplied by DJ Dap One

Local band releases single

On Thursday, Oct. 15, The Paper Heart will release their newest single “Play in the Dark” on all streaming platforms.

Clocking in at just over five minutes, this piece was recorded at local studio Heartache Productions. Consider this a taste of what’s to come since the band has a full album in their sights in the not-too-distant future.

As of now, the only chance to hear the new track live will be on Friday, Dec. 4, when they perform at The Clyde for WBOI Meet the Music’s Friday Night Vibes. Can’t wait to check it out!
