Menopause. It’s a natural part of aging and over six thousand women begin it every day. It’s certainly nothing to laugh about, or is it?

Menopause The Musical chooses to look at menopause in a comedic way and aims to inject humor into the natural body progression as it follows the exploits of four women who shop for lingerie at a Bloomingdale’s sale and eventually sing songs about chocolate cravings, hot flashes, loss of memory, nocturnal sweats, and other predicaments.

The musical numbers parody classic tunes from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s, including “Stayin’ Awake” and “Puff, My God I’m Draggin’.” While the play focuses on women’s experiences, men get something out of it, too, because they learn to relate and begin to understand this important and often stressful time in the lives of wives, sisters, and mothers.

Menopause The Musical has been running in Las Vegas for more than sixteen years and is recognized as the longest-running scripted musical in Las Vegas history, a town where musicals are in high demand and run nightly in front of discerning audiences.

The traveling version of this musical stops at The Embassy Theatre for one night only on October 30. Nearly 11 million people in 350 cities across the world have attended performances of Menopause The Musical and the New York Times says “it’s impossible not to laugh.”
