It’s officially sweater season. The puck drops on the Fort Wayne Komets 67th season home schedule October 20 against the Kalamazoo Wings at Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. The team is beginning their seventh season in the ECHL in front of what will undoubtedly be a packed crowd and have high hopes for the season following a deep playoff run last spring.

Now affiliated with the Stanley Cup runner-up Vegas Golden Knights, the Komets will be led by head coach Gary Graham for the sixth season and, although the makeup of the team will look quite different from last year, they return several players from last year’s squad. But, as anyone who has ever attended a Komets game can attest, the great hockey on the ice is only half the fun. This home opener is no exception. Free magnetic schedules will be handed out to fans as they enter the building.

Komets legends will be introduced prior to opening faceoff and Icy D. Eagle will be up to his usual hijinks throughout the game. In addition, fans will finally have a chance to see the new Coliseum Score Board in action and view the new Sweetwater Ice surface. The atmosphere is always electric at Komets games, but the home opener sets the bar high with non-stop action, activities, and good times for the whole family.
