Down the Line 13 returns to the beautiful Embassy Theatre on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m. It’s the time of year where a handful of the areas elite take to the renowned Embassy stage and pay homage to the legends that have influenced them.

This is a fundraising event for the theater and the talent seems to outdo itself each and every year. This year is no exception. You can rest assured the performers will be playing at a championship level as they’ll be taking on ’90s legends.

To begin, Chris Worth will be taking on the heavy Seattle sound of Alice in Chains. Worth is well known for his R&B, Motown, and jazz style, so this Alice in Chains set is going to be interesting and could very well be worth the price of admission itself.

Next up, surf rockers The Snarks will take on Californian punk-pop giants Green Day while Strange Waters will relive the legacy of Nirvana. Then there’s Fatima Washington who will step up to the plate taking on one of the greatest voices of our time, Whitney Houston. Washington will take us on a heartfelt musical journey through Houston’s lengthy list of hits. I know she’ll rise to the challenge. Finally, Jess Thrower will take us through the sunny, good-time rockers and world-weary ballads of Sheryl Crow.

As you can see, this is going to be a night to remember. Tickets are now on sale for this all-ages show at $20 (early-entry seating before general public) and $15 general admission.

Metallica Tribute Band Adds Opening acts

Hopefully, you snagged your copy of Whatzup in enough time for The Four Horsemen: A Tribute to Metallica show at The Clyde on Saturday, Jan. 19. That’s because there are a couple of new additions to the bill you must know about.

Set to open the show will be local thrashers In Blood as well as The Black Order from Defiance, Ohio. This will be a magnificent night of metal indeed.

The best thing about it is the price for tickets: $12 in advance, $15 day of show and $40 for a 4-pack. Clearly, that’s way cheaper than seeing Metallica and it’s right here in our backyard.

ZZ Top Tribute Band Puts rock in Shamrock

It’s never too early to start making your plans for St. Paddy’s Day. Yeah, before you know it you’ll be sporting shamrock glasses and drinking green beer.

The Eclectic Room in Angola has put together quite the party worthy of the drive north. On the evening of Saturday, March 16, they will have Eliminator: The ZZ Top Tribute Band taking the stage. This band has been a tribute to “that little ol’ band from Texas” since 1992 so you know they’re well in tune. And yes, they have real beards.

Also taking that stage will be The Illegals, The Nick Harless Band, and Plan B. Showtime is slated for 7 p.m. with tickets $18 in advance and $23 day of show.

Comedian To bring Laughs to Tiger Room

The successful and instantly recognizable comedian, actor, and writer Brian Posehn will be back in town on Friday, April 19, to perform in The Tiger Room at Welch’s Ale House. This Let’s Comedy event will feature two shows that evening, at 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Posehn recently inked his first memoir, Forever Nerdy, which would be a great way to hold you over until the show. Tickets are available through Brown Paper Tickets, but I wouldn’t wait until April to purchase.
